2008 Player Rules Presented as a benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation of East Tennessee"THE RULES" A Summary Each team is guaranteed at least two (2) matches in this double elimination tournament. A match consists of the best of three games lasting no more than 15-minutes each. A game consists of 11 points, or when time expires. A team must win by 2 points unless time has expired. The team leading at the end of 15 minutes will be declared the winner. In the case of a tie, the next point scored wins the game. Game times are called by the officials. Failure to present a team after five minutes will constitute a forfeit. The referee’s whistle will signal time for serve. Serving before the referee’s signal will result in loss of serve. After a referee calls for serve, the ball must be served within 5 seconds. After one warning, stalling will result in a ruling for side out for the other team. A maximum of 8 people is allowed on the court at one time; at least two women and two men at all times. All players must sign a release of liability form before playing, and all players under 18 years of age must have a signed release and consent from a parent or guardian. A ball may be played off any part of the body, except the foot. Only flat-soled shoes may be worn. Spikes, cleats or other dangerous foot coverings are not allowed. No packing mud on the ball. A ball hit from out of bounds to a teammate or over the legal net boundary can be legally played. A net serve is a side out and serve moves to the other team. Touching the net is not allowed at any time. The offending team loses the point and serve. If both teams violate the net, the point is replayed. If a referee determines that there was interference from another ball, the point will be replayed. Each team is allowed 2 substitutions per game; except in case of injury. Two time-outs per team may be called per match. Only the Team Captain may talk with the referee. REFEREES’ DECISIONS ARE FINAL! Any player who acts inappropriately, argues with, or abuses any tournament official will be asked to leave the Tournament area. Failure to leave immediately will cause his/her team to forfeit a match. Players ejected from a match will not be allowed to participate in further matches in this tournament. Security and local law enforcement agencies may be called upon to enforce decorum and overall safety. HAVE A MUDDY GOOD TIME!
